SWISS to continue to offer Frey chocolates to its guests

The inflight chocolates distributed on all SWISS services will continue to come from Frey:
the airline is extending its collaboration with Swiss food manufacturer Delica for a further
three years from the beginning of April. SWISS has been sourcing its world-famous
‘SWISS Schöggeli’ bars from Frey since 2015. The complimentary chocolates are offered
to passengers on every SWISS flight.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and Swiss food manufacturer Delica are to extend their
collaboration for a further three years. SWISS passengers have been enjoying ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ milk chocolate bars from Frey, one of Switzerland’s oldest chocolate brands which is part of the Migros organization’s Delica subsidiary, since 2015. The little pre-landing treat is a popular tradition at SWISS and has long been a firm fixture in the company’s inflight service. In addition to its classic incarnation, the ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ is also produced in special seasonal editions for occasions such as Christmas and Easter.

“Switzerland is famed the world over for its chocolate,” says SWISS Chief Commercial Officer
Heike Birlenbach. “So with our being a Swiss airline, our ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ are not just a delight: they’re also a tradition, and a little piece of Switzerland aloft. And I’m very pleased that we can now continue to offer our inflight guests this top-quality Frey chocolate treat.”
“We are proud to extend our collaboration with SWISS for a further three years,” adds Daniel
Meier, Delica’s Head of Key Account Management Business Unit Food. “For us, this is a
confirmation of the consistently high quality of the product and the service we provide. And we
look forward to continuing to treat SWISS travellers from all over the globe to our chocolates.”
19.3 million distributed SWISS’s cabin crew members handed out some 19.3 million ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ – about 270
tonnes of chocolate – to their passengers last year. The Frey bars are made with cocoa which is
certificated by the Rainforest Alliance. An insight into the making of these sweet delights will also be found in the SWISS Magazine.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is Switzerland’s leading air carrier. With one of Europe’s most advanced aircraft fleets, SWISS is a premium airline that provides direct flights from Zurich and Geneva to keep Switzerland connected with Europe and the world. Its Swiss WorldCargo division offers an extensive range of airport-to-airport airfreight services for high-value, time-critical and care-intensive consignments.

SWISS embodies its home country’s traditional values and is dedicated to delivering the highest product and service quality. The company has also set itself ambitious CO2 goals, and plans to halve its 2019 net CO2 emissions by 2030 and make its business and operations entirely carbon-neutral by 2050, particularly by promoting the use of sustainable aviation fuels. SWISS is part of the Lufthansa Group, and is also a member of Star Alliance, the world’s biggest airline network.
