Lufthansa Unveils Its First Airbus A350-1000 in Special 100th Anniversary Livery
Lufthansa has revealed its first Airbus A350-1000, showcasing a striking special livery to celebrate the airline's 100th anniversary. Painted at Airbus' Toulouse facility, the aircraft features a bold blue design with a white XXL crane alongside the anniversary markings "1926 | 2026" and "100". Creating the distinctive look required 432 litres of blue paint and 246 litres of white paint.
The aircraft is expected to transfer from Toulouse to Munich this autumn. Before entering service, it will complete several test flights, final interior work, and the required acceptance inspections. Registered as D-AIFA, the aircraft will be named "Deutschland", with an official naming ceremony planned for a later date.
This delivery also marks an important milestone for the Lufthansa Group, as the A350-1000 will become the 700th aircraft delivered by Airbus to the group.
Measuring 73.8 metres in length, the Airbus A350-1000 is seven metres longer than the A350-900 and is designed to carry up to 300 passengers across four cabins: First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Lufthansa has ordered 15 aircraft of this type, with deliveries scheduled through to 2030.
The A350-1000 is the seventh aircraft in Lufthansa's fleet to wear the airline's special centenary livery. It joins an Airbus A350-900, Airbus A380, Boeing 787-9, Boeing 747-8, and two Airbus A320neo aircraft already flying in the commemorative design. The anniversary livery has attracted widespread attention from passengers and aviation enthusiasts around the world.
