Country Profile
Cuba, the largest island nation in the Caribbean, stands out not only for its strategic location at the crossroads of key maritime routes, but also for its incredible natural, historical, and cultural richness, which makes it a truly privileged destination for exploration.
With over 4,000 cays and islets, untouched coastlines, coral reefs, and protected natural areas, Cuba provides extraordinary opportunities for marine and land-based expeditions.
Beyond its natural wonders, Cuba’s cultural and historical heritage is equally impressive. Cities like Havana, Trinidad, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba, all rich in colonial architecture and recognized by UNESCO, offer deep and meaningful experiences through music, art, history, and the warmth of the Cuban people.
Cuba is located between 19° and 24° north latitudes and 74° and 85° west longitudes. It is bordered to the north by the Atlantic Ocean and the United States, to the south by the Caribbean Sea and Jamaica, to the east by Haiti, and to the west by Mexico across the Yucatan Channel.
It has a moderate tropical climate, with warm temperatures throughout the year. The average annual temperature ranges between 24 °C and 27 °C, with July and August being the hottest months, with highs that can exceed 32 °C, while the coolest months, such as January and February, record lows around 18 °C to 21 °C. The sea temperature is also warm throughout the year, ideal for water sports and recreational activities, particularly attractive for cruise ship tourism.
The hurricane season in the Caribbean officially runs from 1 June to 30 November, with August, September and October being the months with the highest cyclonic activity to Cuba.
